Didcot is a most interesting junction located on the Great Western main line,
which from 1994 was controlled by Swindon 'B' Signalling Control
Centre.
Through expresses between London (Paddington) and Bristol and South Wales
thunder through at 125 m.p.h., whilst others stop at Didcot Parkway station.
Frequent "Turbo" DMU services run to and from the Oxford line. This
route is also used by a variety of loco-hauled passenger services, mainly
between Glasgow/Manchester and the South Coast.
Freight traffic is considerable, including the Merry-Go-Round trains for
Didcot power station, Freighliners, car transporter trains and traffic for
Didcot Yard.
