Including the Kent seaside towns of Margate and Ramsgate, this enjoyable simulation gives the user a lot to think about, with some interesting movements and careful routing is required.
Frequent passenger services link the coast here with London (Charing Cross, Cannon Street and Victoria), with Ashford and South towards Dover. Covering a lengthy stretch of the North Kent coast, there are 7 other stations, including Broadstairs, Minster and Deal.
The full 1982 timetable includes empty stock movements to and from the carriage sheds at Ramsgate and also features the coal trains from the now-closed Betteshanger colliery.
From one of our testers: A really challenging sim at times, with trains turning back at various points, ECS workings from Ramsgate to Margate; and not forgetting the services that run via Minster with a reversal there, just to complicate things even more! However, the most difficult bit was getting one's brain attuned to MarGATE and RamsGATE and ensuring that units coming off Ramsgate depot to enter service were sent to the correct station!
Thanet Coast is one of our Modern Series simulations.
To be run using our PC-Rail Plus software (version dated 09/09/25 or later recommended).
