In the 1950's, Exeter St David's had a busy mix of Western Region and Southern Region trains, both passenger and freight. The simulation covers the former Great Western main line from Exminster to Stoke Canon with short sections of the Teign Valley, Exe Valley and North Devon branches.
Many Southern Region trains had assisting engines attached at ESD for the 1 in 37 incline up to Exeter Central. Banking engines and pilot engines appear in this simulation and some trains have both. There are many 'trip' freight workings between the local yards, including freight exchanges between the Western and Southern Regions.
