The area of this simulation is located in the South of England. The main line is known as the South-West Line and covers all of Dorset and some of Hampshire, starting at Ashurst New Forest and terminating at Weymouth. The Lymington branch plus the Heart of Wessex line to Yeovil is also covered.
The signalling is standard colour light. The mainline is fully electrified using 3rd rail 750 volt DC.

The colour of station names is historical in that Green is Southern Railway and Brown is Great Western Railway and in British Railway times Southern region and Western region respectively.

Distances
Weymouth to Ashurst 57 miles
Weymouth to Yeovil 27 miles
Brockenhurst to Lymington Pier 5 miles

The area is controlled by Basingstoke so this simulation simulates a section of this panel.
Prior to Basingstoke controlling the area there were 11 signal boxes and this is represented by the signal numbers:
Bxxx controlled by Brockenhurst Panel
xxxx controlled by Bournemouth ASC (Area signalling centre) no prefix letter
Pxxx controlled by Poole Signalbox
Hxxx controlled by Hamworthy Signalbox
Axxx controlled by Wareham Signalbox
Lxxx controlled by Wool Signalbox
Dxxx controlled by Dorchester South ASC
Mxxx locally controlled by Train Crew at Maiden Newton
Yxxx controlled by Yeovil Pen Mill Signal Box
YJxx controlled by Yeovil Junction Signal Box
Wxxx controlled by Westbury ASC

Platform Lengths (coaches):
Weymouth P1 5
				P2/3	11
Wareham 7
Poole 11
Bournemouth P1 4
				P2 13
				P3 12
Brockenhurst 11
Lymington Pier 7
Dorchester West 7
Maiden newton 5
Yeovil PM 7

Yard and siding capacities:
Bournemouth middle sidings
	ONE - 175 yds - 6 coaches
	TWO - 306 yds - 12 coaches
Poole carriage sidings
	Both - 258 yds - 10 coaches
Wareham siding
	single - 192 yds - 7 coaches
Jersey Sidings
	Both - 560 yds - 21 coaches

Signalling on the Castle Cary Line
On the single line section between Dorchester West and Yeovil PM trains will pass at Yeovil, Maiden Newton or if late running Dorchester West. Because of signal locks, the train which has arrived first must be at a stand before the passing train can be signalled into the opposite platform.

Infrastucture Note
10 car services between Bournemouth and Weymouth are not permitted due to the infrastructure not being able to produce the relevant power. Power restriction exists between Poole and Weymouth, 5/4 car trains are only permitted to run.
A maximum at any one time of five trains running or berthed between Poole and Weymouth.
The simulation does not check either of these conditions.
