
The table below shows the required locking positions.
A lever number followed by 'N' means the lever must be in the Normal position; 
followed by 'R' means the lever must be in the Reverse position.
Column "Call On" indicates if the signal can be cleared to occupied track. 
When a signal requires a train to be 'cautioned', the signal must be kept at danger until the speed of the train is sufficiently reduced (approx. 10 mph).
Trains to be cautioned must not pass that signal with a speed over 15 mph.

Notes :
Additional conditions for sigs. 40 and 53 :
sigs. 40 and 53 can not be cleared if route is set from 33 over 38 reverse.
Other routes from 33 are allowed.

Exemptions for caution rules :
at signal 3 : caution is not required with 4N and 6N if train is to terminate at Castle Cary station.

at signal 46 : caution is not required for trains booked to stop or terminate in the Up Goods Loop. Note that caution is always required when calling on.

at signal 79 : caution is not required with 78N and 46N if train is to terminate at Castle Cary station, or is to stop at or terminate in Up Refuge Siding.
Note that for trains from Up Taunton to Up Refuge Siding which need 78 to clear in order to get behind 33, caution is required for 78.
